Fujifilm X-T5 studio settings

25/6/2023

Picture
I recently shot key art for an upcoming TV series with the X-T5, which produced great results. The subjects were lit with two Nanlite Forza 60 and soft-boxes (one key and one fill), as well as smaller Aputure HL-198 LED panels to fill in some shadows and detail. The camera was still, on a tripod. The studio was an improvised background on location.

  1. Lens: Fujifilm XF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR - for maximum coverage
  2. Focal length: used a real variety although 35mm (50mm FF equivalent) was the most used
  3. Shutter type: E-Front Curtain + Mechanical Shutter combination
  4. Aperture: f/4.5 - the lens remained sharp even wide open
  5. ISO: 1250 / Max ISO: 2500 - beyond 2500 I started to see some light noise, nothing dramatic but easy to avoid
  6. Shutter: 1/125 / Max shutter: 1/30 - beyond 1/30 there was a little motion blur, even with OIS
  7. WB: 4400K - we were on location with warm lights that couldn't be blocked out
  8. Key Light: 100% strength, WB 4400K, with softbox
  9. Fill Light: 30% strength, WB 4400K, without softbox
  10. Additional Fill: 100% strength, WB 4400K

Film Simulation settings I used on the camera:
  1. FILM SIMULATION: ASTIA
  2. DYNAMIC RANGE: DR100
  3. COLOR: -2
  4. SHARPNESS: -1
  5. HIGHLIGHT TONE: +2
  6. SHADOW TONE: -2
  7. NOISE REDUCTION: -2
